Pioneer German Shepherds breeds sweet-tempered plush and long coat (long haired) German Shepherd Dogs that are oversized with a laidback temperament. Please note that our dogs are NOT Shiloh Shepherds but are distantly related, with larger size and less angulation than most GSD. Nor are they King Shepherds, however they are above average in size (some say king sized) with a large-boned structure. However, all are AKC German Shepherd Dogs. Puppies are whelped indoors and raised underfoot in our home with lots of love, occasionally available to select companion homes. Behind the breed: American Pit Bull Terrier Dogs.

November 8, 2009 - 9:57 pm 25 Comments

A lot of people seriously don’t know what an American Pit Bull Terrier is. Watch this video and you will understand the breed allot more. Most people that claim to own these dogs really don’t. They own mixed bred dogs that are designed using the American Pit Bull Terrier. Allot of these crosses have American Bulldogs added in for size and strength and some even try adding Bullmastiffs! Both the American Bulldog and Bullmastiff are much larger and more powerful dogs then the American Pit Bull Terrier. That is one of the reasons they are used to produce the dog commonly seen today. Allot of these dogs end up in shelters. In reality, the true APBT is, in my opinion, one of the best dogs you can own, if you know how. Dogs are pack animals and you need to make sure you’re the pack-leader without ever hitting or abusing your animals. You also need to make sure that you can handle a dominant breed.

The true American Pit Bull Terrier is a small to medium sized dog that gets 15 – 21 inches at the shoulders and
22 – 65 pounds. Anything more then 70 pounds is obese and/or a mutt.

In this video you will learn:
*- What a true American Pit Bull Terrier is and how to know.
*- How to tell the difference between the true APBT and the Fakes.
*- How to know if the breeder is a legit, educated, responsible, reputable, respectable breeder, and also how to tell if they are a “Back-Yard” breeder.
*- You will also learn the “Pit Bull” isn’t a breed, its a term used to describe a certain group of dog breeds. “Pit Bull” isn’t a breed itself, though.
*- You will also see some of the breeds commonly confused as an APBT.
And many more ….

Enjoy the video and learn! Good Luck!

The above dog breeds are commonly believed to be extinct. Very little has been written about them and the dates of their extinction are largely unknown. As with all creatures who become extinct, there can be a variety of reasons that a particular dog breed suddenly ceases to exist. Sometimes it’s physical- the result of a disease that a particular breed is susceptible to, or a weakness in their constitution that makes caring for them difficult, causing people to lose interest and instead focus on other breeds. Extinction can also be caused by drastic cultural change, such as when the Cuban Revolution almost rendered the adorable Havanese extinct. In Japan, the Akita almost became extinct due to excessive dogfighting during the Meiji period (the late nineteenth century and early twentieth century). This noble breed was threatened again during World War II when starving Japanese citizens relied on his meat to sustain them. But extinction isn’t always the result of calamity. The particular traits inherent in one dog breed may no longer be valued by society. Without active breeding programs, these domesticated animals no longer have viable populations. While certain breeds such as the New Guinea Singing Dog and the Manchester Terrier have been brought back from near extinction, many others are lost to history.
