How long will a 5 pound yorkie/maltese dog live? Also, what is the best food for this type of dog?

Hi. I have an almost one year old yorkie/maltese mix dog that is under 5 pounds. I was wondering what the average life span is.
Also, currently I feed Coco Eukanuba for puppies of a small breed. I’m not sure if I should keep her on this for adult food or continue with the brand. She probably gets bored with it and maybe a food change would make her happy.
I want the best option to keep her happy and healthy.

I have one more question: Soon, I am getting another puppy (of the same breed and gender). Can I feed my one year old dog the same food as the puppy? I heard somewhere that they can have "puppy" food for up to two years… is this true?

Thank you so much for looking at my question and I appreciate all responses!

Kendra, your dog will live as long as someone doesn’t step on it. HA! Only joking. Your pup has to be the cuttest little thing. Small dogs have a long life expedency compared with the normal life span of 10 to 15 years in most other breeds of normal/average size dogs. Dry food is best. Read on the bag when you are to switch to adult food. Don’t worry about the dog getting bored with her diet. She will have fewer digestive issues with the same food every day. You can also make her food yourself. Had a friend that rescued a Yorkie and nursed him back to health by cooking for him. He got dog food mixed in but also cooked chicken, brown rice, carrots, onions, all chopped up and cooked. Plus she put in powered vitamins. Whatever she did that dog looked wonderful and lived to be over 15. He had been so neglected he hardly had any fur and most of his teeth had to be removed. His fur came in beautiful and was a wonderful pet that everyone loved. I loved dog sitting when she would go out of town. He would come sleep on my head at night. Too cute.
P.S. Very pleased on you getting another dog. They are so much happier with a bud around.
