Like, I think its interesting Chows used to be bred for their meat among other things And Dalmations used to run along carriages.

The Dandie Dinmont Terrier is named after a fictional character who owned similar terriers (the work was published in 1814 and thereafter the breed was known by his name)- the breed colors today "Pepper" and "Mustard" are after the character’s dogs’ names in the book.

The Clumber Spaniel very nearly was lost in the French Revolution – they belonged to a nobleman of France who sent his beloved dogs to a friend in England in case the revolution threatened them. The noble and his family lost their lives, but the Spaniels were kept and bred in England.

The Cardigan and Pembroke Welsh Corgis were actually bred to spread cattle out instead of keeping them together. When the breeds were developed, a Welsh farmer was granted land for his stock based on how much they utilized, so they developed a little dog to chase the cattle so they would spread out over a larger area.

The Leonburger was bred merely to look like a lion- the town of Leonburg wanted a lion-looking dog to go on it’s crest.

I’m looking to get a new dog, but I have two house cats. I want the dog to be able to live with my cats without quarrel. Currently, my two favorites are the American Eskimo and Yorkshire Terrier. I live in a three-story condo, so I’m trying to keep the dog fairly small. I have a large park-ish area near my house, so getting the dog out and about wouldn’t be too difficult. I’m looking for the best dog breeds to get along with cats and smaller living spaces. Any suggestions?

I’ve had 2 Miniature Dachshunds that were fabulous with our cats, best buds. My daughter’s rescue Chihuahua is also great with the cats. Plays very nicely with them. I don’t recommend a small Terrier, but most Yorkies aren’t too bad. No Jack Russells for sure. Bichons, Lhasa Apsos, Shih Tzus are usually quite good.

I really want a dog but my parents won’t let me get one until I am 14. I am 13 now.

They are not too enthusiastic about me getting a dog so I am going to make a PowerPoint about a certain breed of dog that will fit our lifestyle.

The only problem is, my dad has athsma and we think he might be allergic to dogs.

What are the dog breeds that shed lightly and are almost hypoallergenic?

Note: I know that NO dog is completely hypoallergenic and they all shed!

But remember, it might not be the actual dog hair that your dad is allergic to. When a dog goes outside, it will trap pollen in its fur. The longer the dog’s fur is, the more pollen it will bring into the house with it. And since pollen is known to trigger asthma attacks, and since your dad has asthma, I highly recommend get a short-haired dog.

A tall dog breed from 80-150lbs that is tough and can hold its own( not that it will ever need too lol)

well a lab wont protect you I think an english mastiff mine is 34 inches at the shoulder and 220lbs very sweet and a gental gaint but would protect if anywon tryed to harm us or break in

I am getting a teacup yorkie and i want to know some cut dog names. I really like the name Ava and Bella. Please tell me what you think!

My dog’s name is Bella, but she’s a black lab. But I think the name Bella for big dogs and small dogs, I think it’s an adorable name. Ava is really cute, too, and I like another answerer’s suggestion, Kenzie. I think Kenzie is cutee! But I love Bella the best.

Great Dane’s are usually the biggest breed. However, the biggest dog of all time was a mastiff named Hercules who weighed almost 300 pounds.
