Is it bad to sleep with your dog, health wise?
Every time we have visitors my mother always keeps telling people how i sleep with my dog then they start saying how i can possibly get sick or die from sleeping with her. I have slept with my dog about 6 months, so is it possible that i could get something from her? i mean i really don’t like the idea of not sleeping with her and she got used to it but if i have to then i have to. oh and i dont really have to worry about the dominance i got that covered just about is it safe for my health (like parasites, worms, germs etc.)
As long as your dog is healthy and does not carry any parasites or viruses, you are fine. Just like sleeping with a human partner….
To anyone who voted no and to poster….Please see this site before you listen here. Back up information before you make it a belief….And don’t believe everything people say on Yahoo…LOL…I sleep with my dog myself…
So…My answer to the qwuestion CAN you get sick, yes it is possible…. is it likely….No and even less likely if your pet is clean and healthy.

nooo, it’s not a problem to sleep with your dog, as long as you bathe your dog regularly, and make sure it’s healthy in every way. it’s perfectly fine.

Most people I know sleep with their dogs. I’ve never heard of anybody getting sick from a dog.

I’ve had dogs most of my life and they have always slept in my bed with me. I’ve never become ill or heard of anyone becoming ill from sleeping with their dogs. You could get fleas, in theroy. But you will be fine!
The only danger you are in is of having stinky sheets that need to be washed all the time, and getting dog hair in your eyes!

Wow! These visitors of your mothers are idiots! NO, you can not get something from your dog from sleeping with him. Unless of course you are licking his butt and he has worms…eeewww. I have a king sized bed and have 3 dogs on my bed every night. You’re fine, next time someone says something just tell them they’re idiots and move on.

It is fine for your dog to sleep in your bed, as long as it does not have fleas, and as long as it is not pooping in your bed (you obviously don’t want fleas, and fecal matter can cause ecoli infestation leading to serious health problems).
As long as your dog is clear of fleas and worms, and doesn’t have a pooping problem, there is no reason why there would be a health risk to you from her sleeping in your bed.

Haha no, I shared a bed with my 112 pound bull mastiff for six years and I never had a problem (except for the occasional falling off the bed due to lack of room lol). As long your dog is flea and parasite free (simple routine preventatives available at your vet) then you should be perfectly fine. Besides, I’m sure your dog loves it

to jessica s: you don’t need to bathe your dog because there is a 50-50 chance that it will get pneumonia..the good is to bathe your dog every other day…
my answer was: as long as you maintain the cleanliness of your dog

Your mom may have been told that a long time ago. lol. No, you definately can not catch anything from your dog. The only thing that is bad is that she is more likely to have seperation anxiety…which really sucks if you have to leave her home ever! You should have crate trained, and if you can deal w a little crying you can still try it. But no it’s perfectly fine to sleep w her
WHO DAT!

Get a veterinarian. Dogs require a regular vet, and usual appointments to health check on their lifetime like people, preserve good dog health is significant, so regular vet checkups are needed. It’s important you pay attention to what the vet advises, to uphold good dog health. You want to give your dog the finest care possible, and YES if your dog is under Vet care, you can sleep with your dog!
