I want to be a dog breeder but I’m only 13 and I can’t wait to be older. Do i have to be certified or something?
Actually ‘Yammie’ I had a dog that had puppies and one was still in its sack and i helped her with her puppy and the puppy lived
no you don’t have to be certified…as long as your parents are ok with it you can breed your dogs..

don’t think there is an age limit but you need a lot of education for breeding.
you need to know the breed standard, blood lines, health issues for that breed. problems of breeding. how to spot problems.

You should volunteer at your local municipal shelter first, and help take care of the unwanted, homeless dogs for a while before you decide you want to bring more dogs into the world.
Maybe when you’ve had to help kill a few hundred of them because there aren’t enough homes, you’ll understand better what you have to do.

You have to be 42 years old. Sorry but it will be so long from now, you should think of something better to do when your an adult. Like you could rescue dogs that do not have homes or have bad/abusive homes. That would be very rewarding, honorable work.

It depends if you want to be a good breeder who breeds healthy puppy’s or the sort who breeds anything with no regard to the animals welfare.
To be a good breeder you need lots of space and lots of money plus be able to devote loads of time to socializing the puppy’s once born (you won’t be able to do this if at school.) You need to health and genetically check both parents and have a couple of thousand in the bank to cover medical costs if there are complications. If theres problems after the birth, either large litters or the mum being unable to feed the young then you are looking at round the clock nursing care. So unless you have understanding parents that will help then it needs to be after you leave school.
Decent pedigree breeders are usually registered here. Plus so are the animals.

You have to be at least 18, because you cannot legally get invovled with signing contracts until you are legally an adult.
Besides, at your age, you dont have a JOB to support such an expensive hobby. There is much genetic health tests, prenatal care, etc.. there are also many risks that come with breeding.. it can be quite costly and in the end you may not even have a litter of pups to show for it!

You have to LEGALLY be an adult (18 yrs old) NOT 42 yrs old – I know many breeders that are younger than 42 (my mother was one for instance). There is A LOT to do as a breeder which I am ABSOLUTELY sure that you are not ready for. You will need over $1000 to get it started with vet bills, food, and other emergency incidents. Plus you are just TOO young to understand exactly what goes into being a breeder. Would you know what to do if the puppy doesn’t come out of the birth sack in order to save it’s life? I think not, so I would say wait another good 20 years and then think about it.

GOOD GRIEF PEOPLE give him a break this is a kid! My son wants to be a Zoologist, do you think I am trying to discourage him with the hundreds of thousands of dollars it would cost, plus the internship and all of the etc. etc. etc…
Let kids have dreams for a little while, leave your politics out of it just for ONCE! Please!!
How about lets make a deal, in ten years you can find him and call him a BYB, but for now, know when to chill out!
(oops it looks like the meanies were reported.. now it looks like I was yelling at no one lol)
