What dog breed is best for apartments?

I want a dog but not sure as to what breed I want or really what
breed is best for me and where I’ll live.
I plan to move to Nevada soon and want a puppy that is
okay for apartments ,Though my plan is to take it out for walks daily that also depends on my job but i would like a fairly active dog not one to lazy or to hyper. What is the most a dog can weigh for an apartment?I do prefer a dog more friendly towards others but isn’t that just more training than breed.

Well you have to consider the allowances of the apartment. Most places do not allow any dogs, some it depends on the breeds because insurance companies will not insure an apartment complex depending on the breeds. Also some apartments have weight allowances like dogs under 30 pounds, so get your information as to what the apartment allows first and then go from there. You say puppy, and dog interchangable. It is only 1 hour for each month of age, plus 1 hour for puppies, so a two-month-old puppy can only be alone/hold its potty for 3 hours at the most. If you are working, you have to have a plan as to how to let the puppy potty every two hours. You might need a pet sitter or dog walker, or come home during lunch and breaks if you work close by. You might need family/church friend/neighbor help. Keep in mind that puppies needs tons of training, not just a walk. Puppies also cry and bark if they are left alone when they are first little, so that could be an issue with your neighbors. A dog that is already potty and house trained might be a better choice. No matter what breed, a trained dog is always best. I have dog sat several pugs, and some are a blessing and some are a nightmare, and it all has to do with training. If you do not have a lot of experience with training a dog, I would suggest the sheltie. They are the smartest breed and the easiest to train, but you do have to train them not to bark. Well you have to train all breeds not to bark. All apartment rulees are different, and some charge big deposits and extra rent for dogs, so check into that also.

You do not want a puppy. Puppies are a lot of work and require you to be able to quickly get them outside. Get an adult dog that is already house broken. As for the breed? Small dogs are always good for apartments, but some larger breeds are fine IF you walk them every day. Lazy dogs are better than active dogs. A lazy dog will not destroy your apartment if your job prevents you from walking it every day.

Shetland Sheepdogs are active, but small dogs. However, they are very, very yappy and very, very active.

If you don’t mind hair, German Shepherds can make great apartment dogs. Just be sure to get one that is not a puppy (they are very active puppies) and one that is already trained. I got a 1-2 year old GSD from a rescue, and she is amazing. (Came already trained.) You do have to walk them every day, but the walk is manageable. (My dog is fine with a 20 minute walk every day, mind you she has the run of two floors of a house and has a cat to play with.) German Shepherds are also a factor of protection. You are safer walking a GSD than a small terrier.
