We are getting a new puppy and its 4 months old. The dog is tan and white and is an australian shephard mix. Its a boy. We want to maybe go with an australian related name. We dont like food names. It might be cool to have a name that contradicts the dog if you get what i mean. I really like unique names, and i dont really like human names for a dog.

See, my uncle is getting a dog because he just bought a house with a back yard. Our family loves dogs but we like to name our dogs with actual names,not like fluffy,Mr. Bigglesworth etc. For Example: some of the dogs in our passed have been named Cassie, Winnie, Bill,Jackson, Woody and Janie. So if you are to answer this question, have this in mind.

What are your dogs called and why you chose such a unique name for your dog? Just interested in unique names.
For me, my dog is called Motley and is an English Cocker Spaniel. His name is a word Shakespeare made up, which is a colourful costume worn by a court jester. He was named that because he has black, chocolate, tan and cream fur.
Two of my dogs have unique names. Jibini and Tana, both Basenjis. Basenjis are an African breed so I chose Swahili names for both of them.
Jibini is Swahili for "cheese". Cheese was my nickname growing up (and my friends from childhood still call me that even tho I’m pushing 30.) I was perusing a list of Swahili words looking for something that "fit" and I couldn’t pass up Jibini. Of course everyone who meets him & asks his name, always says, "Huh??" when I say "Jibini". He’ll answer to "Bean" for short, to keep it simple.
Tana is short for Tanashati, which means "pretty" in Swahili. She’s a rescue dog whose name was "Tonya Ann" when I got her. I just couldn’t see sticking with that name….NOT my idea of a good name for a dog. But she *knew* her name, so I tried to find something that sounded similar. She perked up her ears when I said "Tana" so that’s what I re-named her
My other 2 dogs are Chloe and Ellie- I acquired both dogs after they’d already been named and responded quite well to their names. I assure you had I been in charge of picking their names, they wouldn’t be named Chloe and Ellie just like millions of other dogs are LOL.
Triple dog names = names for three dogs, like Peanut, Butter, and Jelly
They’re a Yorkie, Chihuahua, and a Corgi.
Feel free to name any names that don’t go for them. IDC.

Fido – abbreviation of fiddelus Faithful in Latin
Rover – English folk word- a rover is someone who roams, an old fashioned word for a country tramp- there used to be an old folk song ”tales of an irish rover”
