Where can I find this type of dog collar?

March 31, 2010 - 8:14 pm 6 Comments

I am looking for a wholesaler of authentic diamond dog collars to provide me with diamond collars for a HIGH END boutique that I am opening.

Probably something that you will have to have custom made if you mean real diamonds. Face it, these aren’t really something that will be flying out your door by the thousands.

You can commission a jeweller to make them for you. You will just have to source out the collars themselves, or the raw materials.

is it all right to use anti-bark dog collar to puppy?

March 29, 2010 - 10:29 pm 12 Comments

i have a 5+ months puppy, whenever i leave the house, she will bark non-stop for more than 15 minutes, what can i do to stop her for barking if anti-bark dog collar is not suitable for puppies?

Absolutely not.. While I have nothing against shock collars, I do not feel using it on a puppy is appropriate at all.

Nothing can take the place of good old fashioned training. Use a shake can when he barks and tell him SHH or quiet.. Do not yell at him to shut up as he see’s it as you barking back.

He is the perfect age for puppy training classes

Does anyone know where to find the dog collar/leash that is used on the Dog Whisperer?

March 28, 2010 - 12:30 am 9 Comments

I’ve started watching Ceasar Milan on the dog whisperer and noticed that he always has a leash/collar that just slips over the dogs head so you don’t have to worry about having a collar on or clipping the leash on. The one he uses looks almost like a Noose but I’m assuming it is designed differently so it does not choke the dog. I looked on his website and the only leash on there is not the one that is used on the show. Does anyone know a website that I could find the noose style leash he uses on his show? Thank you
It is not the Illusion Collar on his website

You are probably thinking of a very simple slip lead (see photo in the link below) and yes, they can choke a dog if used improperly. There are also all in one show leads also in the link below.

Choking is pretty much the idea of choke chains, slip leads and the illusion collar which is why he advocates things that ride high on the neck where the trachea is more accessible. Things that ride low on the neck, where more muscle structure protects the windpipe don’t offer ‘control.’ where control is a euphemism for cutting off air supply or causing pain or discomfort.

If you don’t want a full-choking device, try a martingale type collar. They come in various styles and limit how tight the collar can get. The collar still tightens but it stops at a certain point.

If you have a sensitive, attentive dog you don’t need any of these things. A flat, nylon collar and training do the trick.

Where to get a dog collar for Mastiff ?

March 24, 2010 - 12:25 am 2 Comments

I need to find a collar for my English Mastiff. Shes 7months old and has out grown her collar. Im looking for something in the 30 inches or so range. I do not want one that is 2 inches think or big and bulky. I think they look stupid on dogs. That’s all I seem to find tho. I understand they are big dogs and need big collars but is there not some where to buy a normal sized strong collar?

The reason collars for large dogs are thicker is because a thinner collar would hurt their neck.

How do you know when a dog collar (Electric Fence collar) is too tight, or not tight enough?

March 21, 2010 - 9:29 pm 9 Comments

I want the collar to work, but I don’t want to choke my dogs…They are yellow labs…I can get my hand through it, but the prongs are deep in their throat…Also, is it alright for them to sleep with their electric fence collars on in their crate??

Prongs deep in the throat sounds uncomfortable, and you want them to be comfortable until they reach the electric fence line.

Hopefully the manufacture/retailer sent you some literature when you bought it that can help you properly fit the collars. If not, I would definitely call a rep and ask them.
