I am a dog breeder not a PUPPY MILL! So now idiots on here please this is for other dog breeders not people who think they know somthing about somthing they know nothing about! Only Dog breeders or supporters no PETA Lovers either.
I own a purebred Australian Shepherd from a reputable breeder. She’s been shown in confirmation, and after learning all I could about breeding dogs- I decided in the end she did not need to have a litter.
Regardless I think most animal lovers dislike PETA.
My personal opinion is that PETA is a horrible organization. They have a hidden agenda, fight for many things I disagree with, and go about most things the wrong way.
Human milk in Ice Cream? No pets at all? Come on PETA, just fall off the map already.
I’m all for trying to end the abuse of animals, but PETA is just wrong to me.

Just found this:
http://www.peta.org/campaigns/ar-uncompromisingstands.asp
Against pets at all?
Against crating?
Against euthanization when they were proven to kill so many themselves?
Rather kill then fix feral cats (Didn’t I just read they were against killing animals?…)?
Against no kill shelters (conflicting again!)?
Ugg… I can’t go on. I’ll let you all look for yourselves.

with in the next 6-10 months i want to bring home a bull terrier puppy. does anyone know any reputable breeders or know how can i find breeders?
I would go to a local dog show. I actually own a Bull Terrier. She is deaf, which is common for the breed.
Do a lot of research and talk to owners. Unfortunately this is not the breed for everyone. Currently they are the dog of choice for puppymillers and backyard breeders. Mine was rescued as a pup running loose in Chicago. My daughter’s BT was rescued as a pup in inner city Detroit. Try Petfinder:

Bull Terriers really need to be the only pet in the household.

I am not sure what kind of dog I want or when I want to get one but I think it will be more towards July. I probably go to an animal shelter instead. I am not really sure.
Options on places to get a puppy:
You can try petfinder.com, your local pound, the classified section of your local newspaper, a breed specific rescue group, or look for a reputable breeder in your area.
You can find breeders through this site:
http://www.akc.org/breeders/index.cfm
Without a specific breed I’m sorry no one is going to be able to help you beyond this.
My suggestion to you is this: Go out and buy a book of dog breeds. Go ahead and mark off dogs you like, then go throughly research the breeds you chose. Make sure the dog will fit your life style!
After you’ve chosen a breed, if you decide you want to go find a breeder here’s what you can do:
Check the above website for breeders, or check the kennel club associated with that breed for reputable breeders. Going beyond the internet you can go to a local dog show. Watch the show with the breed your wanting to get, you can even talk to the handler about the breeder of the dog (though be sure that they are not busy at the time, it’s very rude to interrupt). Breeders are a great resource on telling you everything you need to know about the breed, and if you get a puppy from them they will work with you (if their reputable anyway).

I would like to find some breeders in my area, but I am not really sure where to start. Would the vet be a good resource? Is there a website?
BTW, I live in central North Carolina.
Thanks!
its good to start doing extensive research on the breed you want. going to shows, calling the clubs of the breeds, getting a checklist. A good breeder will answer all your questions and do everything they can to put you at ease. I always tell potential buyers to come do a check of my place first, spend time with my dogs, and think it over before they buy. I provide my vets name and number, and testimonials of past buyers, I also give out numbers to my club and then have a contract for the potential buyer to ensure the dog has a good home, and I have a clams that if they cant care for the dog for any reason I will take it back.

I see them trying to sell these dogs in the newspaper all the time. Often the price of these dogs is double of what a pure breed dog would be. How can we stop them. Sometimes I’m very tempted to call them up and let them know that I think what they are doing is really bad, but it would not stop them. People keep buying these dogs too. So do you have any suggestions on how to stop them?
Theirs nothing we can do specifically to stop them. Breeding legislation generally only ends up hurting responsible breeders. The best thing to do is just keep trying to educate the dog buying public about the problems with these intentional mixes. I dobut it will ever be stoped compeltly or even a significant dent put in it because unfortunatly the majority of people just want what they want regardless of the consiquences but even if you cut into the market a little bit by steering people away from these mixes it makes a difference
