Which is better, a boxer dog or a great dane?

March 31, 2010 - 8:14 pm 15 Comments

I am debating whether I should get a boxer or a great dane. Confused. They are both great, cute dogs but I can’t pick between them.

~ This is a preference only you should make. Spend time learning about both these breeds. Boxers are a little less maintenance and have less health problems but both can be stubborn to train. Make sure you do plenty of research then it will be easy to make a choice.

If my neighbors barking dog makes it over the fence can I shoot the dog?

I live in California and have two small children. The people behind us just moved in and build a dog run up against the bordering fence. They also placed the dog house against the fence and the dog is trying to get over to my yard.

These dogs bark & growl all day long. If they make it through the fence or over the fence. Do I have the right to shoot the dogs?

In my opinion, not sure if it’s against the law, but if a dog comes in my yard threatening to attack me or my family I would shoot it. I would never shoot a dog without it being absolutely necessary, but in this case you can’t risk your kids being hurt or even killed. The dog may be ok if it gets out of its territory but you never know. Please don’t shoot the dog if it gets in your yard and acts ok. Call animal control or your neighbor. Have you tied talking to your neighbors about it. Try to prevent it from happening all together if you can.

How can I get my brother’s Maltese dog to get along with my Quaker parrot?

March 31, 2010 - 8:14 pm 2 Comments

He just got his dog, and the other day it attacked my bird. How can I get them to get along? The dog is 4 years old, and the parrot, I’m not sure how old he is exactly because we found him.

They say if you introduce them slowly, then your Maltese will get along with any animal. (I have a Maltese too, I think they just pick and choose who/what they will be friends with! jk-kinda) They are very protective/jealous dogs he might have thought you were being attacked or just decided the bird didn’t belong in his house. Try letting someone else hold the bird, maybe a non-family member the dog likes. Try this a couple of times a day if possible.Let the dog be in the room when the bird is just sitting on his perch. Pet-Smart also offers a Socialization Class if all else fails. Good Luck.

Where can I find this type of dog collar?

March 31, 2010 - 8:14 pm 6 Comments

I am looking for a wholesaler of authentic diamond dog collars to provide me with diamond collars for a HIGH END boutique that I am opening.

Probably something that you will have to have custom made if you mean real diamonds. Face it, these aren’t really something that will be flying out your door by the thousands.

You can commission a jeweller to make them for you. You will just have to source out the collars themselves, or the raw materials.

Dog AT AT Costume

I made this for my Mini-Pinscher for Halloween as he has about the same size and profile as an AT-AT. It is made out of picture backing board, hot glue, a sharpie, pillow stuffing, and my skin (I used a real scalpel to cut it out, plus the hot glue took a chunk of skin off as well).
