What is it like to have a "boxer" dog in the house?

February 27, 2010 - 11:16 pm No Comments

I’m moving into a house where the family are having a boxer dog. I haven’t seen the dog yet, but I’m asking those who have experience, is it a lovely breed of dogs, active , friendly, bark less etc etc.. I appreciate any advice. Thanks.

Generally boxers are fairly high energy dogs. This however will depend on the individual dog and also the dogs age. Younger dogs tend to be more rambunctious by nature. Boxers are normally very friendly dogs, but again it depends on the individual dog. Any dog can be friendly if they are socialized correctly, but the boxer breed as a whole is a typically friendly dog. Any breed of dog can be amazing pets and friendly, a big factor determining this is how the dog was raised.

Good Luck!

What is the most flavorable dog treat you can bake?

February 27, 2010 - 11:16 pm 5 Comments

My dog likes his dog treats alright but they are very bland. I’ve made some dog treats for him but they were still kind of bland. How can I spice them up or what’s a good recipe?

I know there are dog treats you can get from bakerys that are actually pretty good to the human taste! They usually are dipped in a kind of icing but i’m uncertain what it consists of.
So if a human could like it, a dog would LOVE it and that’s what I want. A superb dog treat that’s not harmful to the dog. Any good recipes you know of?

well, i made molasses dog (and human) biscuits for my dog. she adored them! i’ll get the recipe…

2 cups cornmeal
2 eggs
2 Tablespoons molasses
2 cloves garlic (i didn’t put that in-i didn’t want her to have garlic breath!)
1/2 cup chicken broth
1/2 cup powdered milk

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. In a large mixing bowl, combine all the ingredients. Blend until smooth. Roll this mixture out 1/4 inch thick and cut into shapes or shape into dog biscuits by hand (i got a dog bone cookie cuter). Place 1 inch apart on a greased cookie sheet. Bake for 20 minutes until golden brown.

Why does my maltese dog have some fur on his face that is similar to whiskers?

February 27, 2010 - 11:16 pm 5 Comments

My maltese is a male and he is three years old. On his face most of the fur is normal but there are a fur strands of almost "plasticy" hair that stick up and are hard and look and feel almost like whiskers. Is this normal or is this something I should be concerned about? Please help!
He’s not a wire haired breed….he’s a maltese
I thought whiskers were only for cats???

maltese are not wire haired dogs so im guessing they are whiskers as well it should not be anything to worry about

Where can I find an authentic burberry dog collar?

February 27, 2010 - 11:16 pm 9 Comments

My fiance has spent the whole day looking for a burberry dog collar for a small dog with no prevail…It is driving me nuts already…… Anyone know where I could get one besides ebay? Thanks

Search the actual Burberry website. If you don’t want to pay big bucks then you’re really out of luck. People who have real ones on eBay are only going to sell them for a few dollars less than the actual retailer. The collar will probably just get discolored, dirty and ruined anyways so I don’t see the point in a fancy name brand collar.

Is it bad to sleep with your dog, health wise?

February 27, 2010 - 11:15 pm 14 Comments

Every time we have visitors my mother always keeps telling people how i sleep with my dog then they start saying how i can possibly get sick or die from sleeping with her. I have slept with my dog about 6 months, so is it possible that i could get something from her? i mean i really don’t like the idea of not sleeping with her and she got used to it but if i have to then i have to. oh and i dont really have to worry about the dominance i got that covered just about is it safe for my health (like parasites, worms, germs etc.)

As long as your dog is healthy and does not carry any parasites or viruses, you are fine. Just like sleeping with a human partner….

To anyone who voted no and to poster….Please see this site before you listen here. Back up information before you make it a belief….And don’t believe everything people say on Yahoo…LOL…I sleep with my dog myself…

So…My answer to the qwuestion CAN you get sick, yes it is possible…. is it likely….No and even less likely if your pet is clean and healthy.

I am interested in becoming a dog breeder. Where should I start?

February 27, 2010 - 11:15 pm 7 Comments

I’ve been around dogs all my life and being a breeder would be perfect for me. Where should I start and what else should I know?
I knew I should have said more…I do love dogs and one reason I am interested in becoming a breeder is because then I can own over 4 dogs (I don’t mean hundreds or anything) but I know I can care better for them than a shelter. But as for the breeding part I mean more like breeding for people that want show dogs and such or for the government (fat chance), but that was my idea, not to put more dog population problems on the earth. Just to clear some things up…

When you breed your dog, you put her at risk

Breeding your dog is a costly event, and you will most probably have more expenses than you will have income from puppies

Regardless of how much experience you have, you can still have disasters

Expect to have a number of sleepless nights

Death of just one pup, even in a large litter, can be heartbreaking. Expect to take some time to get over that too.

No vet is perfect.

It is almost impossible to get a fading puppy to survive, and you can lose a whole litter to fading puppy syndrome.

It is impossible to predict how successful the breeding will be. WOW i think there is enough people breeding dogs, reading that page that is posted, from a contributor.. There are millions of people breeding and over breeding dogs why would you want to put your pets through this… Animals at shelters fall, because someone wants to sell there puppies for astronomical prices, when there are millions waiting for homes daily.. So for what you can put a ad in the paper and hope it goes to a good home, and doesn’t end up being that shelter animal….

February 26, 2010 - 2:17 am 8 Comments

The Bernese Mountain Dog is a large breed of dog. Is is one of the four breeds of Sennenhund-type dogs from the Swiss Alps. The name Sennenhund refers to people called Senn, herders in the Swiss Alps, in the Canton of Berne in Switzerland. Originally kept as general farm dogs, large Sennenhunds in the past were also used as draft animals, pulling carts.
Bernese love to be encouraged with praise and treats. They are sweet with children, despite their great size. Overall, they are stable in temperament, patient, and loving.
They love to lean against people, sit on their feet, or lie down under their legs while people sit.

Featuring a vast array of popular themes, such as the four seasons, water, animals, nature, adventure, travel and destinations … set to music. FILLERS are always nice to look at, often quite amusing, the images can be programmed flexibly.
